At the beginning of summer I drew this couple of sirens for a @sparklenseazine a queer merfolks zine. One of the characters is inspired by the more commonly known mermaid, half human and half fish, and the other is closer to the first depiction of these creatures in the Odyssey, half human and half bird. They belong to different environments, but here they are fighting against water and gravity to embrace each other. With this illustration I wanted to portray a strong and happy bond, one which defies the laws of nature and creates a happy union.
